Joe is a seasoned wheelchair basketball player, having had an international career spanning 18 years. Having begun his international career with GB Men in 2005, he achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold at the European Championships, and was part of the squad that claimed Bronze at Beijing 2008.

Moving across to Germany to compete in their domestic league, Joe achieved success with his clubs as a 4x League Champion, 4x Germany Cup Winner, 1x Champions Cup Winner, and was twice the German League top points scorer. Joe went on to represent Germany at Tokyo 2020 and the 2021 European Championships.

Returning to the UK, Joe now works full time at the University of Nottingham as Wheelchair Basketball Club Development Officer and Head Coach, responsible for developing the wheelchair basketball offer at UoN, engaging more disabled and non-disabled participants from within the university and the local community in the sport. Joe has also returned to Jaguars WBC, where he was named overall Division 1 Player of the Season 2022/23.
