Clare Griffiths – Independent Non-Executive Director

Clare is an established wheelchair basketball player with an extensive playing career, proudly represented GB Women for 18 years and competed at an incredible five Paralympic Games.

Taking up the sport at Stoke Mandeville Hospital during her rehabilitation, Clare’s GB debut came just one year later in 1998 with a call up to her first World Championships. In her time with GB Women, she claimed seven Bronze medals at the European Championships and competed at four World Championships. Clare called time on her international career following Rio 2016.

Clare has had an integral role playing for Loughborough Lightning, winning the Women’s Premier League with back-to-back titles including the inaugural season. A welcome return to campus for Clare who graduated Sport and Exercise Science at Loughborough University in 2003.

Outside of sport, Clare has built a career in Management Consultancy, Inspirational Speaking and Experiential Learning. Clare has also been developing her skills as a sports commentator and coaches a children’s horse riding team.
