EuroCup enters a new era, and Reading Rockets set to host
IWBF Europe recently announced a major update to the structure of the incredibly popular EuroCup format, a prestigious club competition that takes place throughout the continent.
The new format of EuroCup now features a promotion and relegation system that ensures heightened stakes every round. A total of 71 teams are set to compete across 17 different venues in Europe, with the first round taking place next year on February 4th – 7th. A full breakdown of the changes and the rationale can be found on the IWBF Europe news post: https://www.iwbf-europe.org/eurocup-2027-a-new-era/
One of the confirmed hosts for EuroCup this coming season is Reading Rockets, who are preparing for EuroCup Division 4 Group A in May.
Last season in the 2026 competition, five British Wheelchair Basketball clubs competed within EuroCup: London Titans, Sheffield Steelers, Manchester Revolution, Reading Rockets and Jaguars.
More details about the 2027 EuroCup will follow on the IWBF Europe channels. Confirmation of all teams competing in the competition will be available soon.
