British Wheelchair Basketball’s four Home Nations descended on the University of Nottingham campus this past weekend to duke it out for the inaugural title of Home Nations Cup champion.
The event featured U14, U18 and Senior categories from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The total points from across the three age categories were combined to decide the overall champion for this year, as well as naming individual category champions. Alongside the Home Nations Cup title, the Senior teams from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales competed for the Celtic Cup.

Our U14s delivered exceptional performances across the weekend, spurred on by the energetic crowds who cheered them on throughout the games as they enjoyed several buzzer beaters. Wales came out on top after a stellar series of results, with Scotland placing second. England South claimed third in their playoff against England North.

Across the U18s competition, Scotland were on fine form winning every game they played, including a dramatic final against England North. In the 3rd / 4th place playoff, Wales claimed bronze over England Central.

In the fiercely contested Seniors games, England U25 went undefeated throughout and executed a perfect display of skill in the final against Scotland to take the title.

Scotland retained the Celtic Cup after a stellar performance throughout the competition. Northern Ireland claimed Senior bronze in the 3rd / 4th place playoff against Wales.
The biggest moment of the weekend came with the final award ceremony as our overall Home Nations Cup winners Scotland lifted the trophy for the first time in history, having brought together performances across the three categories to claim the historic title.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who made this weekend possible, including all teams, spectators, Officials, volunteers, and partners of British Wheelchair Basketball. Our National League 2026/27 season gets underway in September, and we can’t wait to get started!
