GB players star in thrilling games in Spain as players go head-to-head

GB players were at the centre of two thrilling games in Spain as British players went head-to-head in Spain, while Simon Brown and Jim Palmer play penultimate games in Germany.

In Spain, Terry Bywater’s CD Ilunion overcame a tough test against a Mideba Extremadura side, which featured five GB internationals, as the Madrid-based team returned to winning ways at the top of the table.

Bywater scored 18 points and contributed with 11 assists as Ilunion won 72-75 in a game which was close throughout.

On the other side of the court, Phil Pratt posted his third triple-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists, while Gregg Warburton and George Bates both scored 20 points each. Ben Fox added a further five points for Mideba.

There was also plenty of British interest in the other British head-to-head in Spain as a 56-65 win over Iberconsa Amfiv ensured BSR Amiab Albacete remain level on points with CD Ilunion at the top of the table.

Featuring six GB players across the two sides, it was another close game in Vigo, with Kyle Marsh scoring a game-high 19 points to help Albacete secure the win.

Gaz Choudhry scored 14 points, while Lee Manning collected a weekend-high 16 rebounds in addition to his points total of 12 points. Harry Brown scored seven points.

The only other game featuring a British player in Spain saw Thomas Smith score eight points as he helped Rincon Dental Amivel claim a 67-47 victory over Fundacion Vital Zuzenack.

In Germany, Jim Palmer’s hopes of reaching the play-offs were dealt a blow as his Rhine River Rhinos Wiesbaden side lost 58-88 to Hannover United with Palmer scoring six points.
