Biography

Lewis’s career has progressed rapidly since he was first introduced to wheelchair basketball by a friend in 2014.

A promising discus athlete in his teenage years, it was during that same year that Lewis won gold in the discus at the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports World Junior Games. Wanting to get involved in a team sport, Lewis fell in love with the intensity and team aspect of wheelchair basketball and has never looked back.

First beginning his playing career with Tornados in BWB’s Development League, within 12 months Lewis was playing in the Premier Division and was recruited to the GB Junior Programme in 2015 after attending his first camp in the May.

A regular member of the GB Junior squad during his junior years, Lewis was part of the U23 World Championship winning side in 2017 in Toronto, Canada. Following a year within the BWB centralised programme, working with GB coaches Haj Bhania and Steve Caine, alongside playing for CWBA, Lewis moved to play in the Division de Honor in Spain.
