BWB Launch Home Nations Cup

Home Nations Cup, a new event for British Wheelchair Basketball, will take place this August at the David Ross Sports Village, University of Nottingham.

The competition runs 8th – 9th August 2026 across three courts, and will feature U14, U18 and Adult categories.

Previously the National Junior Championships and the Celtic cup, this refreshed event combines the two to maximise the opportunity for pathway athletes and coaches to develop across the three categories.

The title of Celtic Cup champion will be awarded to the highest placing Celtic Nation in the Adult Division, whilst the Home Nations Cup will be awarded to the overall winner across all age categories.

The Home Nations will compete across all three divisions as Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, bar from England who in U14 and U18 will compete as England North, England Central, and England South, and as England in the Adult category.

The event is a key part of wider strategic goals on connecting athletes, coaches and officials with more development opportunities. More information about the player pathway can be found here: https://britishwheelchairbasketball.co.uk/gb/pathways/

Justine Baynes, CEO at British Wheelchair Basketball, said:
“We’re proud to introduce Home Nations Cup, an event that promises to give greater opportunities on the player pathway. In its previous form, National Junior Championships has been an important development experience for U14s and U18s, so it remains a high priority to continue building on the junior offer whilst creating additional pathway opportunities with the new Adult category.”

More information about the event will be released in due course. To find out more about competing at the Home Nations Cup, reach out to your relevant home nation body:
