Australia Men and England Women claimed gold in the dramatic final games of the Glasgow 2026 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball competition last night.

The competition was held at the SEC Arena in Glasgow, beginning on 24th July with the pool stages, and concluding with final placings. The schedule at the Commonwealth Games is unique in offering wheelchair basketball games alongside running basketball games, allowing the energetic audiences to experience the thrills of both sports combined.

In the pool stages, the Men’s and Women’s teams from England and Scotland went undefeated, winning all three games they played.

Onto the play-ins, Wales had the opportunity to advance to the semi-finals but narrowly missed out, with the men’s team falling 21-6 to Australia and the women’s team losing 21-3 to Canada.

On the final day of competition, the semi-finals got underway. In the men’s competition, Scotland fell 12-19 to Australia, while England claimed their spot in the final by beating Canada 18-13. The women’s teams played later in the day, with England also beating Canada 18-10 to advance to the final alongside Scotland, who defeated Australia 15-12 in an incredible battle that went down to the final buzzer.

Drawing a dramatic conclusion to the schedule, the bronze medal game saw Scotland and Canada battle it out, with Canada taking home the bronze medal after a 9-19 victory. In the thrilling gold medal final, England Women’s team defeated hosts Scotland 10-18 to claim the title. England Men took home the silver medal after falling short to Australia, 19-13.
