History made as Scotland are crowned overall Home Nations Cup champions at the inaugural competition.
BUCS Wheelchair Basketball season finale at the BUCS Big Wednesday!
The University of Worcester claimed the BUCS 2022/23 season trophy after winning 36:90 over Cardiff Metropolitan at the BUCS Big Wednesday event at the University of Nottingham on 22nd March.
Wheelchair basketball featured in the event programme for the second time in a row, with last year being the first-time wheelchair basketball has been included in BUCS. The venue was a busy hub of exciting action, with students from across the country converging on the David Ross Sports Village to compete in this multi-sport event.
Jack Long was awarded MVP for his performance in the final, and commented:
“Winning BUCS has been a work in progress for the whole year – we’ve been training five times a week with coaches [Simon Fisher] and [Adam McMullen] which has been perfect. Winning MVP I contribute this to everyone – we won it as a team and that is all that matters!”
Jo Richards, British Wheelchair Basketball Participation Director, said:
“Following the success of last year’s inaugural final, it was fantastic to see wheelchair basketball included in the BUCS Big Wednesday programme for a second year in a row. It is hugely positive to have inclusive sport increasingly available to students across the country. A big congratulations to all teams involved this season!”
