Team England have announced their Men’s 3×3 and Women’s 3×3 teams set to represent at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games this month.
World Championships 2018 – Friday 17 August – Round-up
GB nails the double as both squads claim their first wins of the 2018 World Championships.
The GB teams were the talk of the town in Hamburg on Friday as both teams triumphed in their opening games of the tournament.
The GB Women paved the way for a successful day with an early afternoon win over current World Champions Canada. It proved to be a nail biter of a game with both teams fighting point for point throughout and the GB lead narrowed to a worrying two points with little over two minutes to final whistle.
Any Conroy, Laurie Williams and Helen Freeman were in no mood to mess and found gold in the basket time after time. Full match report available here (link)
The GB Men took to the newly laid floor of court 2 to face South Korea for a Friday evening showdown. The men established a comfortable lead early on in the first quarter with a strong young starting five making their presence clearly felt. Leigh’s Gregg Warburton and Peterborough’s Lee Manning both bringing their international experience and formidable reputations to the court; Warburton mastering the floor with his agility and on point shooting and Manning visibly dominant under the basket with a fearsome reach.
