The University of Worcester Arena played host to the RGK National Junior Championships 2025 this past weekend, with both courts in full swing across the U18 and U14 categories.
In the U18s, England North delivered stellar performances across the competition to claim the top spot, taking home gold. England Central took silver, and Scotland came third winning bronze.

In the U14s, Wales delivered a great team performance which earned them the gold medal. Scotland claimed silver, and Exeter Otters took bronze. The RGK National Junior Championships Fair Play Award was presented to Leah Solley from the Bears WBC. This award symbolises the spirit of wheelchair basketball, being a good teammate and competitor, and was voted for by coaches across the U14s competition.

On the Saturday evening, in addition to the U18 and U14 action, an England U25 exhibition game took place which provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the upcoming talent within the pathway and delivered an exciting game to top off a thrilling day of fixtures.
Tina Gordon, a stalwart of the sport having tirelessly dedicated decades of her life to wheelchair basketball, was recognised during the trophy ceremonies following her decision to retire from her role at basketballscotland.

RGK returned this year as title sponsors and had a team of trained advisors providing expert advice on chair maintenance and the assessment process for ordering one of their bespoke chairs. Find out more about RGK here: https://rgkwheelchairs.com/
On behalf of the Active Partnership Network, Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire had their Sport Welfare officers in attendance, providing specialist advice and support to athletes, coaches and families.
Joining RGK and Active Partnership Network in the exhibition space, clubs and players were able to learn more about our Inspire a Generation programme and the opportunities to play, including our popular Motability Scheme Inspire Leagues. The Motability Scheme Inspire Leagues applications are open for clubs until the 29th August – find out more here: https://britishwheelchairbasketball.co.uk/motability-scheme-inspire-leagues-registration-open/
A huge thank you goes to all Referees and Officials for their time and dedication throughout the event.
We can’t wait for next year’s competition!
