International Day of Persons with a Disability 2025
Each year the UN marks 3rd December as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, aiming to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all areas of society, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
This year’s theme is “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress”.

At its core, wheelchair basketball is a thrilling blend of skill, speed and power as athletes compete to be the best. The lessons learned on court, be it teamwork or performance under pressure, are transferrable skills that can be applied into everyday life.
As a collective, wheelchair basketball is a sport that provides a community space. This opens the door to create societal change beyond the lines of a basketball court, something we’ve been proud to contribute towards alongside our membership and the wider global community.

This International Day of Persons with Disability, we are proud to join with clubs, athletes, coaches, volunteers, ParalympicsGB, and other sports governing bodies sharing their message.
