IAG Local Competition grants launched

The ‘Inspire a Generation’ initiative is now offering Local Competition grants to help clubs and delivery partners expand their offering at a participation level and get more people involved in wheelchair basketball in their communities.

Clubs can benefit greatly from running IAG sessions and local competitions as entry-level courses are perfect for attracting new participants and increases the activity offering in their local community.

There are two Local Competition Grants available:

• Open age group competition

• U14 age group competition

Grant Wilson, the Inspire a Generation Programme Manager, commented on the launch:

“I’m very excited to launch the new competition grants through the Inspire a Generation initiative. It will add a whole new way to increase participation by supporting clubs to provide a competitive outlet for new players.

“The main aim of the Inspire a Generation programme is to develop local and fun opportunities for people to engage with wheelchair basketball. One of the key ways to do this is to bring people together through competition and create sustainable communities of support. The aim of these grants is to support the clubs to launch these competitions and invest in the infrastructure to make them sustainable.

“Anyone can get involved in wheelchair basketball – it truly is a sport for all. Whether this is being part of a local IAG session, in schools or community centres, being part of an organised club through their open days, or getting in touch directly through the IAG website at www.inspireageneration.com.”

Clubs and delivery partners can apply for the IAG competition grants via the Inspire a Generation website: https://inspireageneration.com/become-a-competition-organiser/
