GB Senior squads set for a big summer

The GB Men and GB Women’s senior performance squads are readying themselves for the challenge coming this September as the IWBF World Championships 2026 take place in Ottawa, Canada.

Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season at home and abroad, the elite performance athletes turn their full attention to the road ahead as they prepare for a busy summer of camps, friendly fixtures and invitationals on their path to Worlds. Both teams now enter a period of intense training with the final squads set to be announced in early July.

GB Men

The GB Men’s senior team have one goal in mind: claiming their second ever world championship.

George Bates was announced as Head Coach of the team earlier this year in February, and his official start with the squad commenced following the National Championship Finals 2026. Joining him as Assistant Coach in the build-up to Worlds is seasoned coach and retired Paralympian Dan Johnson, who brings an abundance of experience.

GB Women

The GB Women’s senior side have their sights set on achieving history in Ottawa by claiming their first ever World Champion title.

Head Coach Miguel Vaquero Maestre continues his role shaping the squad and raising the performance standards, with Worlds 2026 set to be his fifth major tournament with the team. Jorge Borba returns in his role of Assistant Coach, also set to be his fifth major with the team.
