CEO Justine Baynes joins Sport and Recreation Alliance board

Justine Baynes, CEO of British Wheelchair Basketball, has been announced as the newest member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance board.

Justine joins the board in a casual capacity until 2028, where she will be valid to stand for re-election for another four year term.

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is a representative body that acts as the voice of the grassroots sport and recreation sector. The Alliance protects and promotes the interests of the sector and its membership to government, policy makers and the media.

The Alliance has been hard at work to implement its new strategy – A United Voice for Sport and Recreation – which was launched last year. The Alliance continues to strengthen their relationships with national governing bodies, which will be strengthened by the appointment of Baynes.

On the appointment, Sports and Recreation Alliance Chair, Dame Janet Beer, said:
“I am thrilled to welcome Justine to the Board, who brings with her a huge amount of knowledge and experience from her time as CEO of British Wheelchair Basketball.”

“Her understanding of the sector and previous experience working with the Alliance will be hugely beneficial in this role, and her skills complement those of our existing Board members incredibly well.”
