British clubs and athletes deliver in EuroCup 2026
British teams made their mark in this year’s IWBF Europe EuroCup competition.
Sheffield Steelers and Manchester Revolution were in EuroCup 2 Group B in Switzerland, where a matchup between the two saw Steelers take a 79-55 win. Steelers narrowly missed out on 1st place, but a 2nd place finish earned them a trip to Istanbul, Turkey, for the EuroCup 3 Final. Revolution finished the EuroCup round just behind Steelers in 3rd place. Both teams had players in the All-Star Five: Abdi Jama for Revolution, and Thomas Harvey and Lee Fryer for Steelers.
In the EuroCup 2 Group A saw London Titans travel to Padova, Italy, where they had an impressive tournament earning them a first-place spot and advancement to the EuroCup 2 Final in Reggio, Italy. Joel Clifton made the All-Star 5 for Titans.
Steelers and Titans travelled to EuroCup 3 and EuroCup 2 Finals respectively this previous weekend where both teams faced fierce competition from around Europe. Titans finished in 8th place after a strong effort in the EuroCup 2 finals. Steelers were able to seal a 5th place finish in the EuroCup 3 Final. Matthew Travers clinched a spot in the All-Star 5 team for Steelers.
EuroCup 4 this past weekend saw Reading Rockets travel to Cork, Ireland, and Jaguars travel to Vicenza, Italy. After close losses against Vicenza and Dolphin Trier, Jaguars were able to secure a 3rd place finish in Group B. Rockets were able to pick up a 4th place finish in Cork. Both teams had players in the All-Star 5, Tom Tobin for Rockets and Mateusz Stan for Jaguars.
This weekend sees the Final 4 competition, where numerous GB athletes will represent their clubs in the top tier of European contest. Gregg Warburton, Terry Bywater and Charlotte Moore represent CD Ilunion. Ben Fox, Phil Pratt and Peter Cusack compete for Amiab Albacete.
