Performance
A test of physicality and skill, wheelchair basketball has been lighting up the court at every Games since the inaugural competition in Rome 1960.
Our senior squads represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Paralympic Games and Majors around the globe, including IWBF World and European Championships where both teams have celebrated medal success across the Men’s and Women’s teams.
Our senior players are supported by APAs, a Lottery-funded grant designed to invest in athletes’ journeys towards the podium. These athletes compete at the highest level of our sport, undertaking gruelling training week-in, week-out to deliver on the world stage.
In addition to the senior squads, age-group Majors such as the U23 Men’s and U25 Women’s IWBF World Championships provide us the opportunity to develop our performance pathway players, an essential part of ensuring a bright future for our sport. These squads are selected per competition.
