3x3 Wheelchair Basketball Confirmed for 2026 Commonwealth Games
Wheelchair basketball will return to the Commonwealth Games in 2026 which will take place in Glasgow from 23rd July to 2nd August.
The international sporting event will see the 3×3 format of wheelchair basketball once again feature on the programme after its successful debut at Birmingham 2022.
In 2022, England Men and England Women both secured bronze medals, while Scotland Women and Northern Ireland Men narrowly missed out on a place on the podium.

In September this year, it was announced that Glasgow would step in as hosts of the 2026 Commonwealth Games following Victoria’s withdrawal. This marks the second time Glasgow will host the Games, having last done so in 2014 to widespread acclaim.
The event will run a reduced programme of 10 sports, down from the usual 18.
Justine Baynes, CEO of British Wheelchair Basketball, said:
“We are thrilled to see wheelchair basketball return to the Commonwealth Games programme in Glasgow in 2026. Our inclusion reflects the growing popularity and competitiveness of our sport. International events of this scale are so important when it comes to reaching and inspiring new players, officials and fans of our sport.
“Glasgow has a proven track record of hosting fantastic sporting events, and we look forward to being a part of what promises to be an excellent and memorable Commonwealth Games in 2026.”
