British Wheelchair Basketball has three exciting opportunities to join its Board and help support the organisation’s drive to realise its ambitious strategic vision through to Paris and beyond. 

We are searching for experienced and driven individuals for two Sports Directors and an Independent Non-Executive Director (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Champion). 

Candidates for the Sports Director roles must have experience of wheelchair basketball club and sport development and / or elite performance. This is an incredible opportunity for a member of our sport to join the NGB’s Board and have a direct impact on the future direction of wheelchair basketball in the UK and internationally. 

Candidates for the role of Sports Director should be a current BWB member, and their applications must be supported by two registered BWB members.  

Chair of the board Jules Parke-Robinson commented:  

“It’s vital for there to be representation on the Board from members with lived experience of wheelchair basketball. This could be in any number of ways, such as a player, coach, official or parent. The sporting directors are the conduit between the membership and the board and therefore are key to helping us continue to drive the sport forward in line with our strategy.” 

Alongside the vacancies for the Sports Directors, we are also searching for a highly experienced individual to become an Independent Non-Executive Director EDI Champion. This role will be critical to ensure that the sports upcoming four-year Diversity Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is championed at Board level by an individual who will bring significant professional expertise to shape the sports strategic direction in this field.
