Players Pathway
The determination to become the best version of yourself is at the heart of the Performance Pathway. The Player Pathway offers talented athletes the chance to further develop their skills on court, with the ultimate goal of earning selection for a GB Squad.
Every journey on the pathway begins with your home nation: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, or Wales, providing the foundation for growth and progression.
GB Player Pathway
The GB Player Pathway is built upon the strength of the Home Nations and the talent they produce. The pathway aims to continue player development and prepare athletes for the next level of international competition, whether that is GB Men U23 / GB Women U25, or the top end of performance with the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s GB squads.
The squads for the pathway are collated using information and feedback from the Home Nations coaches and leads, providing an in-depth insight for our coaches to analyse.
Step One
Club coach identifies a talented player at their club through training and games.
Step Two
Club coach will have a conversation with parents to understand the ambition of the athlete.
Step Three
Club coach will reach out to Home Nations Lead to recommend a player with a description of the players playing style and reasons for recommendation.
Step Four
The Home Nations lead and club coach will monitor the athlete, throughout the year and will determine the level of the Home Nations Pathway they fit into.
Step Five
Depending on level of the Home Nations Pathway players will be invited to attend Home Nations training days.
Step Six
Home Nations lead will recommend the player to GB Pathway lead. At this point they will be invited to GB pathway days and trials.
