Sam Rock – Workforce Manager (Maternity cover: Participation Director)

April 2013 – Present

Sam is responsible for the education and development of British Wheelchair Basketball’s workforce; coaches, officials, classifiers and volunteers. She also overseas the appointment of officials for BWB competitions and recruitment of volunteers to support events.

Favourite aspects of your job:

Witnessing people’s progression through the pathway to achieve their goals.

Career Highlight:

2015 Europeans and the amazing crew of volunteers that I had the pleasure of working with.

Career background:

Sport Development Officer – Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. In this role I focussed on developing opportunities for women and girls and people with disabilities.
Participation Officer – Arches School Sport Partnership. Delivering PE lessons and school club sessions for primary aged children.

Education/Training:

BSc (Hons) Sport Development with Coaching – Sheffield Hallam University
Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
Level 2 Volleyball Coach
Grade 3R Volleyball Referee

Advice for anyone thinking about a career in your role:
