There will be a very British feel when Mideba Extremadura host BSR Amiab Albacete in Spain on Saturday, with nine GB players playing for the two clubs this season, while Simon Brown is in cup action in Germany.

British players remain at the centre of the play-off race in Spain, especially at the top of the table with Terry Bywater’s CD Ilunion and BSR Amiab Albacete – featuring four GB players – level on points in first and second, respectively.

Albacete host Mideba Extremadura on Saturday; a fixture that could see nine GB internationals take to the court.

Gaz Choudhry, Lee Manning, Harry Brown and Kyle Marsh have all played pivotal roles in Albacete’s success this season – including reaching last weekend’s Copa del Rey final – and the GB four will be looking to continue their impressive form when they welcome the GB five and Mideba to their home venue.

George Bates top-scored in Mideba’s quarter-final defeat to the eventual Copa del Rey winners, CD Ilunion last weekend, and he is one of five British players playing for Mideba this season.

Phil Pratt, Abdi Jama, Gregg Warburton and Ben Fox will also line-up for the Badajoz-based team as they look to end the season strongly.

There are 32 European medals shared between the British players involved in this fixture, including 22 golds, plus seven world champions and five Paralympic medallists.

Elsewhere in Spain, Terry Bywater’s CD Ilunion host Bidaideak Bilbao following their Copa del Rey triumph last weekend. Bywater was named the competition’s ‘Most Valuable Player’ and the league’s top-scorer will be eager to continue his form in an important game in the battle for the top spot in Spain.

Lewis Edwards and Sam Mack will be the British interest when Iberconsa Amfiv travel to Fundacion Vital Zuzenack, while Thomas Smith’s Rincon Dental Amivel welcome CB Las Rozas FDI to their home venue in Malaga.

In Germany, it’s another big weekend for Simon Brown as his RSV Lahn-Dill team play in the last-four of the DRS Cup. On Saturday, Lahn-Dill play BG Baskets Hamburg in the semi-finals; with the winner playing either Hannover United or RSB Thuringia Bulls on Sunday in the final (1pm, UK Time).
