High scores from Terry Bywater and Gaz Choudhry while Ben Fox leads rebounds in Spain

Terry Bywater and Gaz Choudhry both continue to impress as Ben Fox led this week’s rebounds in Spain, while Simon Brown and Jim Palmer both helped their teams to victory in Germany.

In Spain, Bywater scored four three-pointers en-route to scoring a game-high 28 points as his CD Ilunion team maintained their unbeaten season to date with a 56-78 victory over Thomas Smith’s Rincon Dental Amivel.

It’s now 11 wins from 11 games for CD Ilunion, with Bywater scoring over 320 points, at an average of 29.5 points per game – the highest in the league.

It remains close at the top of the table in Spain and the GB players will no doubt have a big role to play in the battle for top spot. BSR Amiab Albacete – featuring four GB players – continue to keep the pressure on the league leaders with a 42-69 away win at Fundacion Vital Zuzenak.

Gaz Choudhry top-scored with 27 points as he helped Albacete to their 10th victory of the season, while Lee Manning posted a game-high 15 rebounds, in addition to adding six points to his team’s points total.

Harry Brown scored 13 points, while Kyle Marsh added eight with Albacete remaining just one point behind CD Ilunion in the table.

Abdi Jama scored 22 points and Ben Fox posted a weekend-high 19 rebounds, but that wasn’t enough to stop Mideba Extremadura falling to a narrow 58-64 defeat against James MacSorley’s BSR Gran Canaria.

Phil Pratt totalled 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while Fox scored 14 points and Gregg Warburton eight.

Lewis Edwards and Sam Mack were both on the end of a narrow loss as their Iberconsa Amfiv side lost 64-65 to Fundacion Grupo Norte.

Edwards scored five points and posted six rebounds and a game-high six assists, with Mack adding two points.

In Germany, Simon Brown’s RSV Lahn-Dill continued their winning streak with a 70-36 win against Baskets 96 Rahden. Brown scored four points and contributed with five assists.

RSV Lahn-Dill are level on points with league leaders RSB Thuringia Bulls, who have played one game fewer than Brown’s side.

Jim Palmer scored two points as his Rhine River Rhinos Wiesbaden team returned to winning ways with a 65-61 victory against RBB Munich Iguanas.
