Spanish and Italian leagues return while Jim Palmer & Simon Brown clash in German cup

It will be a ‘Clash of the Brits’ this weekend with three games across Europe seeing GB players going head-to-head, including a quarter-final cup clash between Jim Palmer and Simon Brown in Germany.

It has been a busy few weeks for the GB pair playing in Germany, with both Palmer and Brown returning to club action last weekend after a busy few days at the GB training camp in Sheffield.

Their attentions will now turn to the cup, with Palmer’s Rhine River Rhinos Wiesbaden and Brown’s RSV Lahn-Dill going to head-to-head in the quarter-final of the DRS Cup on Sunday (15 December).

There’s another British battle in Italy with Martin Edwards and Ian Sagar lining-up against each other on Saturday (14 December) when SSD Santa Lucia host Special Sport Bergamo Montello in the Italian League.

The two sides have both won two and lost two games this season, with Edwards and Sagar featuring heavily for their respective sides.

The British clash in Spain comes in Vigo as Iberconsa Amfiv host the revitalised Mideba Extremadura.

Lewis Edwards and Sam Mack both posted their season-best points totals last time out as Amfiv returned to winning ways, while Mideba head to Vigo having won back-to-back games.

Ben Fox, Abdi Jama, Phil Pratt, Gregg Warburton and George Bates will all be looking to continue Mideba’s improved form.

Terry Bywater continues to lead the Spanish points standings; finishing top of the weekly points standings for the fourth time, two weeks ago.

After a two break, Bywater will be hoping to pick-up where he left off when his unbeaten CD Ilunion side travel to CB Las Rozas FDI.

Albacete are another team featuring British players to have recorded seven wins from their opening seven games; a 100 per cent record Gaz Choudhry, Lee Manning, Kyle Marsh and Harry Brown will be wanting to maintain when they welcome Fundacion Grupo Norte to their home venue.

Returning to winning ways will be the target for Thomas Smith’s Rincon Dental Amivel side, who lost to Mideba two weeks ago to end their streak of three successive wins. Smith’s team host Bidaideak Bilbao this weekend.

There is a very long away trip for James MacSorley, whose Gran Canaria side travel to the north-west of Spain to play Fundacion Vital Zuzenak.
