49-point haul for Terry Bywater as he continues impressive scoring form in Spain

GB’s Terry Bywater continued his fine form in Spain, scoring a league-high 49 points against five of his GB teammates, while Ian Sagar and Martin Edwards both impressed in their Italian League season openers.

Bywater – who has now scored 136 points across four games this season – scored three three-pointers within the opening 92 seconds of CD Ilunion’s Spanish League game against Mideba Extremadura; the start of another impressive points haul for the five-time Paralympian.

His 14 two-pointers and seven three-pointers saw Bywater score over 60 per cent of CD Ilunion’s 80 points as they beat Mideba Extremadura 80-55.

On the other side of the court, Phil Pratt and George Bates both scored 17 points with GB players scoring all of Mideba’s points. Gregg Warburton added nine points to their total, with Ben Fox scoring eight and Abdi Jama four.

In Italy, Martin Edwards impressed in his season opener as he scored 32 points in Santa Lucia’s 69-72 victory over Porto Torres, in addition to six assists.

Back to Spain, Lee Manning totalled 16 rebounds – the second most in the division – to help BSR Amiab Albacete to a 77-52 victory over Iberconsa Amfiv.

On top of his rebound haul, Manning was also Albacete’s top-scoring British player, scoring 14 points. Harry Brown claimed his highest points total of the season so far with 11 points; one more than Gaz Choudhry’s total.
