Haj Bhania announced as BEDSA Finalist

GB Men’s Head Coach Haj Bhania was announced as a finalist in the Coach of the Year Category of the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA’s) 2019. The man who coached the GB Men’s team to World Championship glory and Paralympic Bronze medal success has been recognised for his work with elite athletes at the highest level of performance in sport.

With over 20 year’s dedicated experience, Haj’s influence as a coach is evident from the far reaching success of the world class performance programme and the medal achievements of the GB teams.

On hearing the news that Haj had been shortlisted as a finalist, British Wheelchair Basketball’s Performance Director, Jayne Ellis commented:

“This is an incredible achievement but one which is so very deserved. This award nomination recognises a coach who is truly dedicated to his team, he has worked with many of these players from the junior pathway through to their inclusion in the senior GB squad. He is a reserved and humble man, who last year steered the GB men’s team to win a historic World Championships in Hamburg. During the tournament his distinctive coaching style and tactics drew the world’s attention to the GB Performance Programme and the Elite Training Centre based in Sheffield.”
