Womens League 2017/18

#ThisGirlCan

The worlds largest women’s wheelchair basketball league heads to Sheffield this weekend to tap off the first round of the 2017/18 season.

Bigger than ever before, the league continues to go from strength to strength with the new season welcoming more teams than ever before.

Teams from across the country will head to All Saints Sports Centre Sheffield on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December, for the first of three rounds of the competition. The following two rounds will be hosted at Nottingham Wildcats Arena, a regular venue for the League.

Women’s League is a truly special event, which encapsulates the essence of Sport England’s iconic This Girl Can campaign.

League player and British Wheelchair Basketball Interim CEO Jo Richards adds:

“Women’s League is close to the hearts of all its participants. There are some truly inspirational stories and accomplishments by our Women’s League players and we have often been left speechless by the mountains these women have overcome to play in our league.

“The game is fast, it’s furious and it is a true spectator sport.

“We’d welcome any women who are considering taking up a new sport to pop along, chat to our players and support teams, and enjoy some of the best women’s wheelchair basketball in the world.”
